The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine is not stopping. On one hand, Donald Trump constantly talks about ending the war and Ukraine’s President Zelensky is also seeking a peace deal. On the other hand, on Friday (March 07, 2025), Russia attacked Ukraine’s energy institutions on a large scale with drones and missiles.
Volodymyr Zelensky has reiterated the need to build mutual harmony to stop Russia’s air strikes on important institutions of the country. Zelensky has called on Kiev, Washington and Moscow to come together to stop the aerial bombing of the country’s energy facilities. The Russia-Ukraine war has entered its fourth year.
The President of Ukraine posted on social media and said, ‘The first step to establish real peace will be that Russia and Ukraine will have to stop naval attacks.’ He further said, ‘Ukraine is ready to enter into a peace deal and it is Ukraine that wants peace since the beginning of the war but the problem is that Russia does not want to stop the war.’
‘Russia fired 58 missiles and about 200 drones’
The Ukrainian Air Force said, ‘Russia has fired at least 58 missiles and about 200 drones, causing huge damage to energy institutions across the country from Kharkiv in the east to Ternopil in the west’. Pictures released by emergency services show firefighters trying to extinguish fires on debris-filled streets in the Kharkiv region.
Zelensky gets Erdogan’s support
Zelensky is also getting support from leaders of other countries to end the Russia-Ukraine war. Ukraine’s allies have supported his ceasefire proposal. On Friday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who recently hosted the Ukrainian leader, also gave his support to it. The Turkish President said, ‘We fully support the ceasefire suggestions. A ceasefire should be implemented between the two countries as soon as possible. Attacks from the sea and sky should be stopped.
Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the attacks
The Russian Defense Ministry also confirmed the attacks on Ukraine’s energy institutions on Friday. The Russian Defense Ministry claims that Ukraine’s energy institutions are helping their army in the war. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, ‘Russia is attacking only those energy institutions which are connected to Ukraine’s military industrial complex’.
The Ukrainian Air Force said that for the first time they have deployed French Mirage fighter planes to stop the air attacks. Which were given to Ukraine only last month. The fighter planes, along with the air defense unit, shot down 34 missiles and 100 drones.
According to DTEK, the largest private energy supplier in Ukraine, their institutions in the Black Sea region of Odessa were targeted for the fourth consecutive time. Gas facilities in the central Poltava region stopped working after the overnight attack.
