18 years after RCB’s historic win, 11 families were in mourning during the victory celebrations in Bengaluru. When the crowd of lakhs gathered around Chinnaswamy Stadium and Vidhan Sabha lost their patience, the negligence of the administration and organizers present there was exposed.
A crowd of lakhs had gathered to go to the stadium to celebrate RCB winning the IPL trophy for the first time in 18 years. The crowd was huge, and their enthusiasm was even greater. Neither the crowd nor their passion and madness.
And this madness broke all the security circles. The dam of peace and patience was broken. There was chaos. Many people were crushed. Many people were injured, and the condition of many people is still critical.
This accident happened when the players and leaders of IPL winner RCB were celebrating. The biggest inhumanity was that people kept dying outside the stadium and the celebration of IPL Cup continued inside.
When people were yearning for CPR outside the stadium, people were gasping for breath, a colorful program was going on in the stadium. When people needed support, people’s favourite players were walking around carrying the cup in their hands. This was not just a stampede, but a black mark of administrative failure.

11 people have been confirmed dead in the stampede. 6 bodies were brought to Bowring Hospital, including three girls, 13-year-old Divyanshi, 26-year-old Diya, 21-year-old Shravan and three boys.
Two of them have not been identified yet. 4 bodies reached Vaidehi Hospital – 20-year-old Bhoomi, 19-year-old Sahana, a 20-year-old youth and a 35-year-old man died. 19-year-old Chinmayi died in Manipal Hospital. 18 people injured in the accident are still undergoing treatment in various hospitals.
The 11 people who lost their lives were just cricket lovers, fans of Virat Kohli, fans of RCB. They did not know that they would have to pay for this madness with their lives. From 13-year-old Divyanshi to 26-year-old Diya and 21-year-old Shravan, all were among the lakhs of people who had come just to catch a glimpse of their stars.
The pain of the lakhs of people who were crazy for the tears of their stars did not affect the star players much. The applause continued. Flying kisses continued. How is it possible that these star players were not aware? And if they were not aware, then why were they not given? Why did the celebrations continue even after the stampede? And the victory speeches continued, backs were patted.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who reached the airport to receive Virat Kohli, says that the celebrations lasted only for a short while. Imagine if there was celebration, applause, laughter, flying kisses for even a minute after the death of people, then what could be more inhuman and cruel than this. When the government itself will lead a celebration.
Will try to cash in on the popularity of the game. If instead of stopping the crowd and managing it properly, she herself will roam around with a flag, then what can be expected from the common people? When leaders celebrate like this, the public will surely go crazy after them.
Now the government is questioning the organizers, the organizers are questioning the administration and in between are stuck those 11 families, who lost their loved ones. Every responsible person is now saying that they were not aware.
Let us assume that the celebrating players were not aware of the stampede and the deaths outside, but were the people in charge of the government also unaware of this? Why did the Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar go inside the stadium to lift the cup? What was his contribution in the victory of this cup? Did he put all the arrangements at stake to cash in on the popularity of cricket and RCB?
At the time when he should have been with the people getting crushed in the crowd, losing their lives and getting injured, he was with the RCB cup. When the injured needed to be lifted, DK Shivkumar was lifting the cup.
The stage for what happened in Bengaluru was being prepared since Tuesday night. But even after that the administration did not become alert. Adequate arrangements were not made to stop the uncontrollable crowd and countless people. Such arrangements were not made so that only as many people could reach the stadium as the stadium could handle.
And if there was no arrangement to stop these people, was it so important to celebrate? This celebration was organized by the Karnataka government and the local cricket association. But now no one is ready to take responsibility for it. The government is saying that no incident took place near the assembly, and our preparation was good.
The government is questioning the arrangements made by the cricket association for this. The government is admitting that more than 3 lakh people had come, while the capacity of the Chinnaswamy Stadium is only 35,000. If the government does not have such arrangements, then why was there an open invitation to the people for the celebration?
On Tuesday night, there was a lot of dancing on the streets, and gradually it turned into hooliganism and chaos. People were so intoxicated that they stopped trucks, blew their horns, and danced on them.
Think what kind of madness this was. Many people spent the entire night of Tuesday celebrating. Yet their enthusiasm did not cool down until the morning. And when people came to know about the celebrations at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, they again came out on the streets.
Due to RCB’s victory parade, entry of vehicles was banned around Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Therefore, most of the fans were reaching the stadium by metro. Due to this, there was a crowd of people at MG Road and Cubbon Park metro stations from afternoon itself.
Here too the situation was similar that one never knew when something untoward would happen, but luckily everything was safe here. People were reaching wherever they could find space.
Some people could not enter the stadium, so they climbed trees. This accident has shown that if human sensitivity is missing in the event, then any victory can become fatal.
It is being told that a large number of RCB supporters gathered outside the stadium. Changing the program due to crowd. Earlier a victory parade was to be taken out with the trophy, but later it was cancelled, after which the entire crowd gathered near the stadium and Vidhan Soudha.
The second reason is more crowd than expected. It is being claimed that there was more crowd outside the stadium than the capacity of the stadium. The third reason is the collapse of the drain slab. The crowd was standing on a slab placed over a drain, which suddenly collapsed.
This caused panic and chaos, and then a stampede. The fourth reason is inadequate security arrangements. If more than 5000 security personnel were deployed, how did they fail to control the crowd? The fifth reason is light rain. There were reports of people running here and there due to rain, only after this did the news of a stampede come to light.
